Memories of your Barrow in Furness childhood

If you are like me there are certain tastes you will miss from days gone by .A favorite food, sweet or maybe drink you havent had for ages .I grew up in Barrow in Furness and like most towns I suspect it had its own maker of pop .Barrow at the time I was growing up had two THOMPSONS and MARSHS . We all had our favourite flavour be it CREAM SODA ,ORANGE or the one that put many a hair on the chest of many a Barrow lad or lass--MARSHS- SASS which even had its own childhood skipping tune -----MARSHS SASS A PENNY A GLASS WHEN YOU DRINK IT IT GOES SPLASH --A PENNY A GLASS came from the old SASS shop in the town center .

Some time ago when I moved back to the area of my birth I found a market stall that sells the owd cordial version of the drink made from the SASPARILLA EXTRACT .

A few years later for some reason as an experiment I tried sticking a little of the extract ( quarter of a teaspoon) into a tumbler full of cheap supermarket(own brand ) cola ---and HEY PRESTO like a time machine was transported back in time to the days of my youth .
So good is this stuff I recently went on the now sadly defunct ABBEY FM in Barrow with local lad JOHN LITTLE ( pictured above ) and on air produced this epic of a drink (a magic moment of radio ) which has had many a slavering Barrovian contacting me to send them some.

Sadly the owd site I made this available from is no more but I am still having people e-mail me asking for the stuff .So I thought it would it would be an idea to add a BUY NOW tab to this blogg so others could get there hands on this magic ingredient
The cost ( via PAYPAL) is £7.00 per 100 gram jar which lasts for ages plus £ 5 P& P which I will get to you as quickly as possible multiple orders will have to hit the tab--x2,3,4 or however many jars tha wants---Oh and don't t the words when you try it MARSHS SASS A PENNY A GLASS-----

If you havent heard of the benifits of SASSPARILLA copy and paste the link below to your browsers address bar and take a listen to the ACCRINGTONS FIRESIDE FUSERLIERS --with thanks to LES BOND
